What a day in London. It was such a blast, exactly what Freddie For A Day is all about!
We filled and rocked the Carnaby Street area today for Freddie’s Birthday. It was all about hearing great versions Queen classics, balloons, splashes of bright yellow, crowd 'Happy Birthday' singalongs and the sound of buckets being filled with kind donations. The atmosphere was just lovely and there were smiles everywhere. We even found specially made moustaches cupcakes, Freddie designed trainers and a Hollywood actress willing to join in!
Our main attraction was the amazing seven-piece band Bulsara and His Queenies. They whipped up the crowds with three short but sweet sets of Queen hits and deep cuts galore - Montreux you are in for a real treat at the weekend! Not only did we get the hits like Killer Queen, Under Pressure and Fat Bottomed Girls, but In The Lap of The Gods and Tenement Funster too, the crowd participating rendition of We Are The Champions was pure happiness all around.
Thank you to all who worked so hard on making this happen; the local shops, bars and restaurants that stationed MPT Collection boxes at their tills, the bucket collection volunteers, the band and, most importantly, all those who came on down for the photo and bought moustaches and donated to the MPT - your support was just incredible and made it such a joyous occasion!
Freddie would be so proud.
Thank you again for helping us celebrate his birthday and raise vital funds in his name.
